Long Legged Katydid

This unusual looking insect is part of the family Tettigoniidaes, and are distantly related to grasshoppers and crickets.  This ones body was about 3 inches in length and had 4 short legs at the front and 2 very long legs at the back.  He also had long antenna.

He landed on a plant on the terrace around 11pm one evening and then started to make a high pitched chirping sound by rubbing the tips of his wings together.
