Japanese Beetle

These pair of Japanese Beetles were trying to get amorous on a flower on a windy day, which was probably not a good idea as they were getting in quite a tangle.

This photo was taken using the Canon EOS 1000D - Shutter Speed 1/790 sec - Macro Mode - f5.6 - ISO 100 - Focal Length 55mm.

These beetles are around 15mm (0.6 inches) long and 10mm (0.4 inches) wide.  The hard protective covering to their wings is copper coloured and their heads have a green tinge to them.

As the name suggests, these beetles are native to Japan.
