Egyptian Locust

The Egyptian Locust it is one of the largest members of the European Grasshopper family.  The adult males can grow up to 30-55mm and the adult females 65 to 70mm.

We have had another Egyptian Locust land in our garden.  I have included this one as it was a lower bush so I was able to get a sharper shot.  I love the detail on its eye it almost looks like a piece of carved wood.  This one was around 70mm long.

This reasonable sized creature, landed in the olive tree in our next door neighbours garden.    This one was around 50 mm.
